Problem was found and should be fixed with next version of Sublight (Sublight 2.6.2)

Details: application could hang up during startup if you didn't have Service Pack 2 of your .NET Framework

Could you please check Windows Event Log for any errors? Regarding DOS window: installer now runs optimization for your computer using Microsoft's ngen utility (Native Image Generator).

Setting subtitle encoding works only for subtitles from its own database. For subtitles from other sources this settings does not apply because Sublight does not know anything about original encoding (and we would like to avoid guessing here). This is why subtitles from other sources are currently written in original encoding.
